Marina Efthymiou

Dr Marina Efthymiou is the course director of MSc Management (Aviation Leadership) at Dublin City University. Marina joined DCU Business School in September 2016. Prior to this, she was working for University of West London and before that for the International Organization for the Safety of Air Navigation, EUROCONTROL based in Brussels.

Marina is the Chief Editorial Officer for Journal of Air Transport Studies, associate editor for Journal of Airspace Technology and Management, and editorial board member for International Journal of Sustainable Aviation. She is member of the German Aviation Research Society and the Hellenic Aviation Society. Marina is an advisory board member of European Aviation Conference. She is also part of the TUD COST Action TU1408 Air Transport and Regional Development (ATARD) and the CA COST Action CA15221 Advancing effective institutional models towards cohesive teaching, learning, research and writing development. She is external examiner for aviation courses.

Marina is a regular reviewer for Annals of Tourism Research, Journal of Cleaner Production, Tourism Review, Journal of Air Transport Management, International Journal of Sustainable Transport and many more. Her research papers have also been published in many of these publications. In 2017, she won the best research paper award from European Aviation Conference- sponsored by Ashgate Publishing (Taylor & Francis Group). 

Her research interests focus on Aviation Governance and Policy, Sustainable Development, Performance Regulation, Air Navigation Service Providers, Air Traffic Management/Control and Policy issues. She has been delivering executive training course for various companies (mainly airlines) on a number of topics (airline marketing, sustainable aviation, aviation and the environment, cost reduction strategies, aviation and tourism, aviation fundamentals).
