Dr Carton is Assistant Professor in Energy Sustainability & Hydrogen Technology in the School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering Dublin City University and is a member of the FEL-100 programme of the World Energy Council.

Dr Carton graduated with B.Eng. in Manufacturing Engineering from Bolton St. Dublin Institute of Technology, Ireland, in 2005 and obtained his PhD. from Dublin City University, Ireland, graduating in 2011, focusing on the research, design and development of Hydrogen & Fuel Cell technology. Dr. Carton has gained many years of experience in leading edge technology development, completing projects with many top international companies.

Dr Carton is the foremost academic in Ireland with a deep sectoral network in hydrogen, energy storage and mobility technologies, using analysis techniques to develop a clear understanding of the potential opportunity and barriers for the deployment of clean renewable technologies.

Dr Carton’s research focus is Energy sustainability through innovative technology development; Fuel cell, Power-to-Gas and Renewable energy storage. Presently Dr Carton is engaging with many industrial partners across the globe to further develop and ultimately demonstrate hydrogen energy storage technology.
